A birth chart is often approached as a verdict — a fixed list of what will and will not happen. In the classical tradition it is understood quite differently. The chart describes the terrain you were born into: the strengths readily available to you, the areas that will demand more effort, and the periods when particular themes come forward.
What a chart shows reliably is timing and tendency. Dashas and transits indicate when a theme becomes active, and planetary strength indicates how smoothly it will unfold. This is why a good reading rarely says simply yes or no; it says when, and under what conditions.
What a chart cannot show is your response. Two people with similar planetary periods can arrive at very different outcomes because one prepared and the other did not. The purpose of consultation is precisely this: to convert information about timing into a decision you can act on.
Approached this way, astrology stops being fortune-telling and becomes something closer to strategic counsel rooted in a very old and very careful observational tradition.
